An unidentified individual has posted a database containing hundreds of thousands of user accounts from the Discord messaging platform for sale on a darknet forum. This incident was reported by the Telegram channel "Information Leaks," associated with service specializing in identifying vulnerabilities and monitoring data leaks, including tracking deceptive activities on the darknet DLBI.
The seller is offering to sell a database containing registered user information along with access to a Discord server. The server's contents comprise 760 thousand entries, including email addresses, hashed passwords, and various other user details.
To substantiate their claims and intentions, the attacker has provided a sample of the data. This sample has been scrutinized and confirmed as legitimate by cybersecurity experts. These experts have verified that the included logins are indeed valid and correspond to actual Discord users. This suggests that the database could potentially be exploited for phishing, spam, or other forms of fraudulent activity.
As of now, Discord representatives have not issued any official statements regarding the situation. Users of the messenger platform are being advised to take certain precautions, such as updating their passwords and implementing two-factor authentication for their accounts.
