WhatsApp is testing a new group voice chat feature that allows 32 participants to chat simultaneously. The feature is available in the latest beta version of the app, making it more attractive compared to platforms like Telegram, Discord, and even its own platform, Meta - Messenger.
In the latest beta update for Android (version 2.23.16.19), WhatsApp introduced group voice chats for up to 32 people. Clicking a sound wave icon in group chats starts a voice chat, and anyone can join. If there's no activity for 60 minutes, the chat automatically ends.
The advantage of voice chats is initiating calls without individually calling participants. Members receive silent notifications for new voice chats, ensuring privacy with end-to-end encryption.
WhatsApp aims to maintain its leading position among messengers by adapting to modern trends and user needs. The new group voice chat feature could be vital in competing with other platforms due to its massive user base.
