MSI has officially introduced the MSI B650M Project Zero motherboard in the Micro-ATX format. The key feature of the novelty is the relocation of the power connectors and peripheral connectors to the back of the board. The novelty was first showcased at Computex 2023 in June this year, and it appears that the manufacturer has decided to release it for sale after all.
The motherboard utilizes a 13-phase VRM power subsystem with a 10+2+1 scheme and a 6-layer PCB. The MSI B650M Project Zero has four DIMM slots with support for DDR5 6400+ DRAM modules (via overclocking profiles), one PCIe 4.0 x16, one PCIe x1, and two M.2 slots for NVMe drives (one PCIe 4.0, one PCIe 3.0). It also features six USB 2.0 ports (two rear, four front), four USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports (two rear, two front), three USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports (rear), one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port (front), and one USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C port (rear).
The new product also boasts a 2.5 Gigabit Realtek RTL8125BG network controller and supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless networks, thanks to AMD's wireless module.
As mentioned above, almost all connectors on the MSI B650M Project Zero board are rear-facing. This includes the board's 24-pin power port, two 8-pin processor power connectors, SATA ports, ARGB lighting connectors, and USB ports.
The board will require the use of a compatible case. The manufacturer offers GUNGIN and SEKIRA case models that support it in their assortment. Solutions from other manufacturers are also expected in the future.
The MSI B650M Project Zero motherboard is not yet available for sale, and the manufacturer has not announced its price.
